At the seminar

Over the past more than 70 years, the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, has been continuously developing in both quantity and quality. During its development, the title “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” was bestowed on the officers and the ranks of the VPA by the people for their loyalty to the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, bravery and heroism in fighting enemies, and wholehearted devotedness to the people.

In fact, the image “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” with noble virtues has featured the VPA in historical documents, literature works, scientific studies, social life and people’s hearts. This is the greatest award for the VPA, a revolutionary military loyal to the Party and President Ho Chi Minh and devoted to the people.

Deeply perceiving the great significance of the qualities of “Uncle’s Ho’s soldiers” in the current process of building a VPA with political strength, the Standing Board of the Central Military Commission, on December 26, 2013, issued Directive 788-CT/QUTW to mobilize the entire military to participate in the Movement “Promoting traditions, devoting talent and deserving to be 'Uncle Ho’s soldiers'.” The movement has been conducted by the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, the General Department of Politics, Party committees and chains-of-commands at all levels across the military. It has been strongly supported and widely participated in by all military officers and the ranks.

The movement has also been considered as the core content of the program to build a modern VPA with political strength, meeting the requirements of the current context.

Thanks to the movement, officers and soldiers have strengthened their political stance, willpower, resolve and sense of responsibility to overcome all difficulties and hardships to successfully fulfill their assigned tasks.

Furthermore, as the movement requires to enhance mass mobilization among the people, the military has bolstered its relations with the people. This has further brightened and beautified the image “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” in the people’s heart.

At the seminar, some 30 reports delivered by delegates of different social positions and from different perspectives deeply analyzed the good values of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers”, and thoroughly discussed methods and approaches to bringing into full play the noble traditional qualities of the VPA and the need to continue the Movement “Promoting traditions, devoting talent and deserving to be 'Uncle Ho’s soldiers'.”

According to Major General Pham Van Huan, PAN’s Editor-in-Chief, the seminar aimed to re-emphasize the VPA glorious traditions, honor the noble virtues of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” and urge all military officers and the ranks to enhance the implementation of the Movement “Promoting traditions, devoting talent and deserving to be 'Uncle Ho’s soldiers'.”
