GS deputy chief asks for speeding up key science - technology projects at MND level
PANO - On January 7, Deputy Chief of the General Staff (GS) Lieutenant General Le Van Huong chaired a conference reviewing military science work in 2025 and outlining orientations and tasks for 2026.
The conference assessed that in 2025, the military science sector effectively performed its advisory role to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense (MND) on military science activities across the military, particularly in advising on the development of strategic weapons and technical equipment; hundreds of “O-series” production tasks; potential investment projects and digital transformation projects and tasks for the 2025-2030 period.

Attentively, military science work closely followed higher levels’ resolutions, guidelines, and plans, meeting military - defense task requirements. In addition, agencies and units strengthened management and promoted scientific research; pro-actively built and developed military science potential; boosted domestic and international cooperation; effectively carried out military science information work; and organized environmental management in a strict and efficient manner.
In his concluding remarks, Lieutenant General Le Van Huong commended the military science sector for its achievements in 2025. He requested agencies and units to continue thoroughly grasping and effectively implementing higher levels’ resolutions, conclusions and plans regarding science, technology, environment and innovation in the military.

The deputy chief of the General Staff emphasized the need to study revisions, additions and improvements to the system of legal documents on military science in line with current laws. He also asked them to closely develop military science plans for 2026, with a focus on building new science - technology programs and projects at the MND level; concentrate on accelerating the implementation of key programs and projects; effectively build science and technology potential to serve research and development of high-tech weapons; and properly perform the state management function in environmental protection.
At the event, the organizers presented certificates of merit of the Minister of National Defense to collectives and individuals with outstanding attainments in science, technology and environment work in 2025.
