According to reports of the An Giang provincial Military Command, the province runs the two international-level border gates of Song Tien and Tinh Bien, the two national-level border gates of Vinh Hoi Dong and Long Binh as well as auxiliary border gates, cross-border paths and cross-border waterways.

Over the past years, the province’s armed forces have well grasped the Party and State guidance on building a defense area and building a strong border defensive force. The provincial command has actively provided good advice to the provincial Party committee and the Military Zone 9 Command on building an active border militia force with high quality and comprehensive capabilities while fortifying the force’s headquarters and defensive fighting positions.

The provincial military and border forces regularly co-organized joint patrols and operations to firmly protect security and social order along the province’s border areas.

In 2017, the province’s armed forces will continuously build on the active-duty inland militia force, carry out military exercises on defensive area in line with the real situation, and promote mass mobilization so as to contribute to ensuring border security.

Speaking at the event, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam applauded the effort of the provincial armed forces over the past time, particularly the provincial border militia force, and thanked local civilian Party committees, local authorities and people for their large and sufficient supports for the province’s armed forces.

General Nam asked military commands of other provinces to follow the example of An Giang in organizing an active-duty border militia force in accordance with their situations and conditions.

Within the framework of the conference, General Nam and other delegates visited several border stations and defensive fighting positions in An Giang.
