The event was attended by General Staff’s Chief and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong.
At the conference, chaired by Secretary of the Party Committee Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, delegates affirmed that in the first six months of 2022, the General Staff directed the whole military to effectively complete both regular and unexpected military and defense missions.
In particular, the General Staff advised the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to propose guidelines and policies to deal with circumstances in a timely and effective manner, contributing to firmly protecting national independence, sovereignty, unification, territorial integrity and ensuring absolute safety at important political events of the nation and military.
The General Staff directed the implementation of and effectively carried out various important missions, including training, education, exercises, competitions, festivals, natural disaster response, search and rescue, regulation building, and observance of discipline and law.
Agencies and units under the General Staff well implemented military, defense, logistical, and technical work. They also paid attention to raising material and spiritual life for troops and conducting policies for troops’ families.
Speaking at the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong acknowledged and lauded leadership outcomes of the Party committees of the General Staff and the General Staff’s agencies and units.

He evaluated that in the first half of 2022, the General Staff stayed united and overcame all difficulties to well fulfill assigned missions, contributing to the whole military’s outcomes in implementing political missions.
Regarding key missions in the last half of this year, General Cuong asked the General Staff’s Party Committee to raise its capability of researching, forecasting, evaluating and following the situation and make timely strategic recommendation to the Party, State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense to issue guidelines and policies to deal with circumstances in a timely manner.
He urged the General Staff to cooperate with other forces to ensure political security and public order and protect absolute safety at important political events of the nation and international events held in Vietnam. In addition, the General Staff should review, supplement and complete documents and operation plans in line with task requirements and personnel organizations of units and take drastic and synchronous measures to build exemplary and comprehensively strong units.
