The event, chaired by Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, also saw the presence of Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister.

At the conference, delegates agreed that this year, the General Staff’s Party Committee and Party organizations and chains-of-command at all levels embraced resolutions and directives of the Party, policies and laws of the State, and resolutions and instructions of the Central Military Commission and Defense Ministry.

Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang talks with delegates.

They actively and effectively made recommendations to higher levels to promptly deal with  circumstances and issues arising while instructing military units to strengthen their forces, improve the quality of their combat readiness and training, conduct search and rescue missions, and respond to consequences of natural disasters and environmental incidents.

In addition, they paid due attention to strengthening internal solidarity, building healthy and strong Party organizations, and heightening troops’ high sense of responsibility to complete assigned tasks.

On behalf of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission and the leadership of the Defense Ministry, General Giang highly valued achievements of the General Staff’s Party Committee this year and underlined some major missions that the committee and affiliated units of the General Staff should attach importance to.

Furthermore, the general requested them to continue to focus on building regular force, observing discipline, and promoting administrative reform while actively giving recommendations to the Party, State, Central Military Commission and Defense Ministry on defense-security missions related to international integration, and expanding defense relations.

They were also tasked to promote troops’ political stance, fight corruption and wastefulness, and well prepare for Party congresses at all levels.
