PANO - Party General Secretary, Secretary of the Central Military Commission Nguyen Phu Trong inspected Army Corps 16 on April 14th during his working trip to Binh Phuoc Province.
Major-General Vo Quyet Chien, the corps’ Party Committee’s Secretary and Political Commissar informed the Party General Secretary of the unit’s recent achievements. At present, it has been managing 39,000 hectares of forestry land, planted 11,300 rubber, cashew and coffee trees as well as protected 10,500 hectares of forests. The unit has also helped built infrastructure in several villages and communes contributing to improving local people’s living standards. Furthermore, the unit has created jobs for more than 12,000 workers, built 1 military-civilian hospital and 8 primary schools.
Notably, the unit has fulfilled their defence-security mission, set up defensive plans and actively cooperated with local armed forces to uphold political stability at border area.
Addressing the working session with the corps’ high command, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong hailed the corps’ achievements over the past time and stressed that the corps should bring into play the tradition of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers” to well perform their function of being a military unit, standing combat ready and promoting production in a strategic region.
The Party General Secretary asked the corps to exert more efforts to fulfill their missions assigned by the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence.
The Party General Secretary asked each cadre and troop to understand current advantages and challenges of the country, grasp thoroughly international developments, build study motivation, and make their stand firm to complete their assigned tasks in the new stage of development.
He also instructed the corps to help improve local people’s living standards and do away with negative aspects to ensure national strong defence and security and to better their work of mass mobilization and external affairs.
