During the meeting, voters expressed strong confidence in the Party and State leadership, praising recent socio-economic achievements. They also raised recommendations regarding practical issues, including transport infrastructure, environmental protection, job creation, social welfare, and site clearance compensation.

Briefing voters on the first session of the 16th National Assembly, General Phan Van Giang stated that the 12-day opening session approved nine laws and 31 resolutions.

Regarding performance in the first quarter of 2026, Gen. Giang noted positive momentum across most sectors. The macro-economy remained stable with inflation controlled and major balances maintained, while GDP growth reached an estimated 7.83 percent. Social welfare and poverty reduction policies were effectively implemented alongside continued improvements in culture, healthcare, and education. Furthermore, political stability was upheld, defense and security were strengthened, and international integration was conducted effectively. Efforts to support overseas Vietnamese and protect citizens were also successful.

Regarding the military, Gen. Giang stated that since early this year, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have directed the force to proactively forecast developments and advise the Party and State on strategic policies. The military maintained strict discipline and combat readiness while effectively supporting local people in stabilizing their lives.

The defense chief also commended the Party Committee and People’s Committee of Thai Nguyen province for their first-quarter 2026 performance. The province achieved 8.55 percent economic growth, its highest first-quarter rate since 2022.

Looking ahead, he urged provincial authorities to concentrate resources on major strategic projects, including expanding the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen - Cho Moi Expressway and investing in the Bac Kan - Cao Bang and Lang Son - Thai Nguyen Expressways, while striving for double-digit economic growth.

He also stressed the need to finalize the medium-term public investment plan for 2026–2030, accelerate the appraisal of public investment proposals, and strengthen efforts to review and resolve delayed and long-stalled projects facing difficulties and obstacles across the province.

In addition, the province was urged to prioritize cultural and social development, ensure social welfare, and improve living standards for residents. Attention should also be given to accelerating investment in disaster prevention and control infrastructure, while continuing to strengthen defense and security, and maintaining political stability, and social order and safety throughout the locality.

On the occasion, General Phan Van Giang presented 300 gifts to policy beneficiaries, needy people, workers and laborers in the province.

* On the same day, General Phan Van Giang offered incense and flowers at the national historical site of Youth Volunteer Company 915 in Gia Sang ward, Thai Nguyen province. He expressed deep gratitude to the 60 fallen youth volunteers of Company 915 and Team 91 Bac Thai, who heroically sacrificed their lives on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1972, while transporting military supplies to the southern battlefield.

Writing in the memorial guestbook, Gen. Giang vowed absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland, and the people. On behalf of the delegation, he committed to national development goals and building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern Vietnam People’s Army to firmly safeguard the Fatherland.
