The event was attended by Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.
Reports delivered at the conference concluded that the General Department of Defense Industry has successfully completed its assigned tasks in 2022. Notably, the organ has given timely advice for the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to issue and implement Resolution No.08/NQ-TW dated January 26, 2022 on promoting the development of defense industry until 2030 and the following years, coordinated with relevant agencies to build the Law on Defense and Security Industry and Industrial Mobilization and submit it to higher levels for approval.
In addition, the general department has made breakthroughs in researching, designing and manufacturing numerous modern weapons; actively preparing for the implementation of the project on restructuring, renovating and improving the operational efficiency of military enterprises. Furthermore, its businesses’ operation has met quality and safety criteria with the profits increase by 9.8% compared to 2021 and the monthly average income has reached nearly VND 14 million per person. Also, the organ has actively enhanced international cooperation and integration, especially in organizing the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2022.
Speaking at the conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia praised the General Department of Defense Industry for issuing appropriate policies and solutions to comprehensively complete all assigned tasks. In the coming time, he required the general department to focus on completing its mechanisms and policies, ensuring synchronization, innovation and efficiency; restructuring, improving the operational efficiency of enterprises, and implementing the enterprise restructuring project for the 2021-2025 period under the guidance of the Ministry of National Defense.
The General Staff’s leader asked the organ to make breakthroughs in scientific and technological researches, develop new weapons, and build new military ships to meet task requirements in the current context and the need for exports as required.
