The request was made by Lieutenant General Le Hien Van, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics (GDP), while visiting and inspecting military units in the North on the occasion of the coming lunar New Year festival (Tet) 2019, on January 17.

During the visit, General Van inspected troops’ accommodation and working conditions, inquired after their families, and learnt about units’ task implementation and preparations for the upcoming lunar New Year festival. He was also briefed on units’ task performance and their work of closely following situational developments in localities. 

Van highly appreciated units’ efforts in carrying out political missions in 2018, their thorough preparations for the coming lunar New Year, effective implementation of homefront policies, and mass mobilization and border external affairs. These achievements have contributed to firmly safeguarding national sovereignty and ensuring political stability and security in border areas, he added. 

Also, the GDP’s leader stressed that important military events to be held during 2019 will create a new momentum for emulation movements among units in the year. He urged the inspected units to well cooperate with local authorities and people to strengthen border people’s confidence in the Party’s and State’s leadership and effectively conduct mass mobilization movements in order to build strong political system at the grassroots level. Furthermore, military units in the region should closely work with other units in giving advice to local authorities and pay attention to building Party organizations.

On the occasion, Lieutenant General Le Hien Van handed gifts of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to troops and wished them a happy and successful new year.
