In May 2026, military units stepped up emulation campaigns and public awareness efforts to celebrate the 136th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh. They successfully organized the Excellent Orator Contest in 2026 at the Ministry of National Defense level, with the participation of over 19,000 officers and soldiers. Meanwhile, the People’s Army Newspaper held a ceremony to award winners of the fifth contest on protecting the Party’s ideological foundation and the writing contest ensuring high quality. Regarding progress of task performance, the units completed 40 out of 59 main tasks planned for May, with the remaining 19 underway. At present, the GDP is implementing 20 initiatives and projects, of which seven are in digital transformation and 13 in capital construction. In the field of digital transformation, the GDP’s Portal was officially launched on May 22, 2026. The other six projects are on schedule, while three construction projects have been completed and ten projects are underway.
Concluding the conference, General Nguyen Trong Nghia commended the outstanding achievements of the military units in May. He noted that the entire military’s Party and political work closely aligned with military and defense tasks, and both regular and unexpected tasks were effectively completed. In the coming time, he requested military units to further enhance political education, orient public opinion, and manage troops’ thoughts. He also urged the swift submission to the Central Military Commission of a plan to implement Regulation No. 19 of the 14th Party Central Committee on political and ideological work. He also called for intensified theoretical research, the successful organization of the Excellent Orator Contest in 2026, quality improvements in press, publishing, and cultural activities, and the drafting of documents on Party inspection, supervision, and discipline within the military.
The GDP chief also asked for stronger internal political protection, security, and safety measures. He requested the completion of the project on “Field marches for mass mobilization by the Vietnam People’s Army and militia forces in the current context,” the acceleration of the “500-day-and-night campaign for the search, collection, and identification of martyrs’ remains,” and the proper organization of mass organization congresses and gratitude activities. He also emphasized the need to push forward digital transformation and speed up procedures for the Party and political work’s digital ecosystem project for 2026-2028.
At the conference, authorized by the State President, General Nguyen Trong Nghia presented the Third-class Fatherland Protection Order to one collective and several individuals for their outstanding task performance.

At the Department of Mass Mobilization, General Nguyen Trong Nghia praised the unit’s recent accomplishments, highlighting its efforts in making recommendations on mass mobilization policies and leading units in deploying effective models. He directed the department to deeply research new perceptions of the people and mass mobilization, clarifying the core concept that “the people are the roots” to better advise the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and the GDP. The department was urged to focus on ethnic and religious affairs, preserve cultural identities, effectively implement national target programs, and accelerate digital transformation and digital media platforms. He emphasized building a pure, strong Party organization and fostering solidarity among troops.

Working with the Military Women Advisory Board, General Nguyen Trong Nghia acknowledged their achievements in advising on whole-military women’s movements, gender equality activities, and preparations for the 14th National Women’s Congress. He requested the board to thoroughly grasp Party resolutions on women and gender equality, and to maintain practical emulation movements. He called for greater attention to female cadre training and the material and spiritual lives of military women, while highlighting the need to promote women’s roles in digital transformation, science, technology, and high-quality human resource development.

At the People’s Army Cinema, after being briefed on its film production plan in 2026, General Nguyen Trong Nghia praised the unit’s historical works and documentaries on President Ho Chi Minh, while asking the cinema to focus on major topics anticipating the 100th anniversaries of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnam People’s Army. He urged them to focus on producing feature, documentary, and science films, utilize their valuable archives, train high-quality personnel, and embrace new technologies and professional exchanges.

Visiting the Military Library, General Nguyen Trong Nghia highly valued the unit’s contribution to ideological and cultural work, the promotion of reading culture, and the digital transformation of the all-military library system. The unit was asked to advance technological applications, successfully implement its digital transformation project, and develop bookcases and libraries serving troops domestically and at Vietnam’s representative offices abroad. He also stressed the importance of building a strong Party organization, caring for troops’ lives, and fostering a healthy cultural environment.
