Flag-raising ceremony held for new landing ship
PANO - Deputy Minister of National Defense Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San attended the flag-raising ceremony for a 550-ton landing ship (numbered 51-11-68) on November 8 in Hai Phong city.
The event was organized by the Transportation Department of the General Department of Logistics.
The Transportation Department’s 550-ton landing ship project is a key one launched to manufacture modern ships with high maneuverability and extended operational range to enhance the transportation capabilities to better meet mission requirements in any circumstances.

At the event, Gen. San and delegates heard reports on the outcomes of the project and the official decision on the commission of the ship. They attended the raising of the national flag on the ship, observed the command for the ship’s commissioning; and toured the ship.
* The same day, the deputy defense minister checked and worked with Factory Z173 of the General Department of Defense Industry, during which he lauded the factory for its achievements over the past time.

Gen. San requested the unit to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies on defense industry development. He directed the factory to focus on researching, designing, and building advanced military vessels for law enforcement forces at sea. He also encouraged Factory Z173 to promote innovation and creativity to enhance management capability, streamline the organization, strictly observe corporate culture, firmly maintain its reputation, and foster trust among customers.
