First flag-raising ceremony in New Year 2026 at border marker No.443
PANO - On January 1, the Youth Union Organization of Phuc Son Border Post, under the Border Guard Command of Nghe An Provincial Military Command, and its counterpart from Anh Son commune organized the program “Border Journey - Footsteps of Youth,” featuring a New Year flag-raising ceremony at Border Marker No.443 along the Vietnam - Laos border.
The activity contributed to raising young people’s sense of responsibility for firmly safeguarding national border sovereignty.
In a solemn atmosphere, Youth Union members saluted the national flag, sang national anthem, and expressed their pride and gratitude to generations of officers and soldiers who have overcome hardships and made sacrifices to defend every inch of the borderland. The national flag flying at the border marker is not only a sacred symbol of national sovereignty, but also a spiritual support that nurtures determination and responsibility among today’s young generation.

After the flag-raising ceremony, officers of Phuc Son Border Post introduced local Youth Union members to the history of the Vietnam - Laos border, the construction, management and protection of the system of border and national markers. They also provided them with legal regulations related to border management and protection. Through this, Youth Union members and young people enhanced their awareness of their roles and responsibilities in maintaining security and order and firmly safeguarding national territorial sovereignty.
First Lieutenant Nguyen Dang An, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union Organization of Phuc Son Border Post, said that the New Year flag-raising program at the border marker was a vivid and practical form of communication that helped educate patriotism, strengthen military-civilian solidarity, and promote the core role of Youth Union organizations in border protection.
It also helped young people in border areas feel more proud of and attached to their homeland, and ready to join hands with the border guard force in maintaining peace and stability in the nation’s border areas.
