Reports delivered at the event affirmed that over the past three years, despite the complicated regional and international situation and impacts of the COVIV-19 pandemic, the project has been effectively carried out with the timely leadership and direction of central agencies and ministries and active and responsible participation of local Party committees and governments.

Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command Major General Bui Quoc Oai affirmed that the project has helped raise the people’s awareness of the law, contributing to firmly protecting national sovereignty and orders at sea and on islands, developing local socio-economy, and protecting marine resources and environment.

General Oai added that the project has encouraged fishermen to keep fishing at sea, thus building firm defense and security disposition and fought hostile forces’ false allegations about Vietnam’s sea and islands. Through the project, the mission of the Vietnamese coast guard force has been widely popularized, and its position as a key force in enforcing law and safeguarding national sovereignty over sea and islands has been heightened.

Delegates visit effective dissemination models.

Reports delivered at the event highlighted the effective coordination between the Vietnam Coast Guard Command and central and local agencies and ministries as well as between armed forces and relevant agencies in disseminating the law. Thanks to the project, troops and local people have gradually been aware of the role and missions of the coast guard force of Vietnam and made active contribution to protecting sovereignty, sovereign rights, and jurisdiction and maintaining political security and order at sea and on islands.

Speaking at the event, Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong acknowledged and highly appreciated outcomes obtained by agencies, units, and localities in carrying out the project over the past three years.

Regarding missions in the coming time, the deputy defense minister asked agencies and units in charge of carrying out the project to continue studying and raising their staff’s awareness of the importance of the project in managing and protecting national sea and islands.

General Luong urged the agencies and units to take measures to raise the effectiveness of coordination among agencies, organizations, and localities and military units in carrying out the project.

On the occasion, the Ministry of National Defense signed a decision on awarding 31 groups and 55 individuals with outstanding achievements in carrying out the project and joining the online contest on the Vietnam Coast Guard Law.
