On November 20 at the Presidential Palace, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Commander-in-Chief of the People’s Armed Forces and Chairman of the Defense and Security Council, handed over the rank promotion decision to the GS deputy chief.

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc underlined that in any posts, conditions, and circumstances, the newly-promoted officer has upheld firm political stance, pure revolutionary ethics and completed all duties and assignments. As the GS deputy chief, he has thoroughly grasped the development of situations, given recommendations to higher levels to deal with contingencies in a timely and effective manner. He has also helped the GS chief direct the whole military to observe combat readiness regulations, organize training and exercises to improve the military’s synergy and combat readiness ability.

State leader Nguyen Xuan Phuc hoped that Sr. Lt. Gen. In his speech, Sr. Lt. Gen. Huynh Chien Thang promised to be absolutely loyal to the Party, Fatherland, and people; constantly self-train; promote good virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and glorious tradition of the heroic Vietnam People’s Army. He will stay firm in stance; overcome all difficulties and challenges; and excellently complete all duties assigned by the Party, State, people, and military, contributing to building a revolutionary, standardize, elite, gradually-modernized military, and strongly protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
