Defensive operation exercise launched in MR3

The exercise was divided into three stages, namely combat readiness shifting, preparing for defensive operation, and conducting defensive operations via seven training contents.

Addressing the event, General Giang underscored that the defensive operations at the military region level plays an important role in the people’s warfare posture to protect the Fatherland. It is considered the foundation of strategic defense with a decisive role in protecting the national sovereignty. Besides, the defensive operations at the military region level requires the combined strength in termsl of military, politics, economics, culture and society, and coordination among provinces, cities, and major units of the military lregion and the Ministry of National Defense.

The exercise aimed to raise the leadership and coordination of MR3 troops and functional forces in preparing and conducting defensive operations, thereby adjusting operation plans in line with reality, meeting task requirements in the current context.

To meet that goals with absolute safety, the defense minister requested the exercise’s organizing panel to direct relevant forces to join the exercise as regulated, and then learn from the exercise to raise training and combat readiness quality in the following years. They should promote their competence during the exercise, and apply what they have learnt from the exercise to their task implementation.

He also noted that the participating forces should observe military discipline and regulations of the exercise’s organizing panel, promote solidarity among troops and with the locality, and ensure absolute safety during the exercise, to name but a few.
