The event saw the attendance of Major General Pham Van Ty, Deputy Director of the Search and Rescue Department; Major General Nguyen Quoc Duyet, Commanding General of the Hanoi Capital Command; Major General Bui Trong Quynh, Chief of Staff of the Hanoi Capital Command and Head of the Steering Board of Long Bien district’s defensive area exercise; and other leaders.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Manh Ha, Chairman of Long Bien district People’s Committee and Head of the organizing panel of the exercise, emphasized that the exercise aimed to raise awareness among party committees, authorities, armed forces, and the public of the importance of the National Defense Strategy in the current context and the tasks of defensive area construction.
According to Mr. Ha, the exercise was seen as a good chance to evaluate the leadership abilities of the Party Committee and authorities, contributing to ensuring the implementation of two tasks of local socio-economic development and defense-security consolidation, supplementing combat plans, ready to shift the locality to the state of defense and conduct defensive operations in any circumstances.

In addition, Ha requested all participants to uphold their responsibility, flexibility, and determination to successfully organize the exercise while ensuring absolute safety of both personnel and equipment.
This year’s two-day exercise consisted of three stages, including military units shifting to higher combat readiness postures, localities shifting to the defense posture, preparing for and conducting defensive operations.
