Defense Ministry gathers NA military deputies
PANO - The Ministry of National Defense held a meeting for deputies of the National Assembly (NA) working with the military on May 20 in Hanoi, ahead of the fifth session of the 14th NA. Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy-Defense Minister, chaired the event.
Present at the meeting were Senior Lieutenant General Vo Trong Viet, member of the NA Standing Committee and Head of the NA’s Defense and Security Committee; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy-Director of the General Department of Politics (GDP); Major General Ngo Minh Tien, Deputy-Chief of the General Staff, among others.
In his speech, General Chiem stressed the significance of the fifth session, which is expected to approve several draft laws related to defense-security and other major issues of the country.
This meeting aimed to inform the NA military deputies about domestic and international situations as well as the outcomes of the military-defense missions over the past time, he noted.
According to information provided by General Nghia, the major trends in the world are peace, stability, cooperation and development; however, there remains instability in several parts of the world. He also noted that the country reached improvement in agricultural production, foreign exchange reserves, tourism, labor and job creation, to name but a few.
Also at the event, delegates discussed contents of several draft laws related to military-defense affairs.
