Defense Minister praises Vietnamese and Lao anti-drug forces
PANO – General Ngo Xuan Lich, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Defense Minister sent a letter of compliments to officers and soldiers of the Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command of Vietnam and the Bolikhamsay provincial Police Department of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on June 24.
In the letter, the defense minister spoke highly of the anti-drug units and functional forces for their collaboration and significant achievements over the past years, especially in preventing and fighting drug-related crimes in border areas.
Particularly, the Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command, in collaboration with the Bolikhamsay provincial Police Department successfully uncovered Special Case 474 LV, cracked down on a big drug ring, arrested five suspects as well as collected 40 heroin bars, 120,000 synthetic drug pills and other exhibits, while ensuring absolute safety for all participating forces and assets. The general wrote that the victory resulted from their bravery, resolve, creativity and close collaboration. The participating forces have brought into full play the synergy of all forces to combat criminals, contributing to firmly protecting national sovereignty, political security and social order and safety in border areas, bolstering the mutual trust of the two Parties, States and peoples, and promoting unity and close and faithful ties between Vietnam and Laos.
The defense minister underlined that the situation of the crimes along the Vietnam-Laos joint borderline, especially drug-related ones, will see further complicated developments in the time to come. Thus, the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense requested the border guard forces for anti-drug and anti-crime to strengthen their collaboration with relevant forces, thoroughly grasp the situation and well manage localities so as to successfully uncover criminal cases to prevent and fight against the crimes in general and the drug-related crimes in particular along the shared border.
