Vietnamese Defense Minister compliments anti-drug forces
PANO – General Ngo Xuan Lich, Member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Defense Minister, on April 7, sent a letter of compliments to officers and soldiers of the Drug-Related Crime Prevention and Combat Department under the Border Guard Command of Vietnam, the Border Guard Command of the Vietnamese province of Ha Tinh, as well as the Police Department of the Lao province of Bolikhamsay and the Drug Prevention and Combat Police Department of the General Department of Police of Laos.
The complimented units and forces have well coordinated with each other and with other forces to attain scores of important achievements in preventing and combating drug-related crimes along the shared border between Vietnam and Laos over the past time.
Three criminals (C) and exhibits arrested in Special Case 063Av
Particularly, the Vietnamese Drug-related Crime Prevention and Combat Department and the Ha Tinh Provincial Border Guard Command, in collaboration with the Bolikhamsay Provincial Police Department and the Drug Prevention and Combat Police Department of Laos, busted Special Case 063Av, cracking down on a big drug ring, seizing 3 suspects as well as 97 heroin cakes and other exhibits, while ensuring absolute safety for all participating forces and assets.
In the letter, the General praised the participating units and forces for their feats of arms, writing that the victory has resulted from their bravery, resolve, creativity and close coordination. The participating troops have brought into full play the comprehensive power of all people and forces to combat criminals, contributing to firmly protecting national sovereignty, political security, and social order and safety in border areas, bolstering the mutual trust of the two Parties, States and peoples, and promoting unity and close and loyal ties between Vietnam and Laos.
The Vietnamese Defense Minister underscored that the situation of the Vietnam-Laos borderline will see further complicated developments with a possible rise in numbers of crimes, particularly drug crime. The Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense have requested that the border guard forces for anti-drug and anti-crime should strengthen collaboration with relevant forces, thoroughly grasp the situation and well manage localities so as to successfully discover, investigate and resolve criminal cases to preserve peace, security, social order and safety in the areas along the shared border.
