Defense Minister commemorates fallen soldiers
PANO - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Defense Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich led a mission on October 15 to lay wreaths and offer incense in commemoration of martyrs resting in peace at the Vi Xuyen National Martyrs' Cemetery and at the Temple at the height 468 in Thanh Thuy commune, Vi Xuyen district dedicated to soldiers who sacrificed in the Vi Xuyen theater.

In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, delegates expressed their deep gratitude to soldiers who bravely fought and sacrificed during the border defense war.
On the same day, General Lich visited and presented gifts to wounded soldiers Vang Seo Cheng and Nguyen Van Dam in Vu Xuyen town of Vi Xuyen district. Inquiring after the wounded soldiers’ health, General Lich affirmed that the Party, State, and Army will always remember the contributions of senior revolutionaries and effectively carry out support policies for them.
The Defense Minister hoped that wounded soldiers will uphold the virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers to overcome all challenges to contribute to local socio-economic development and to be bright examples for young generations to follow. He asked local leadership to create favorable conditions for families of national contributors to raise their living standards.

On the occasion, the mission visited and presented gifts to representatives of 12 teams who are detecting and deactivating unexploded ordnance to serve the search and collection of remains of fallen soldiers in Ha Giang province. Praising the teams’ efforts over the past time, General Lich asked leaders of Military Region 2 to create the most favorable conditions for the teams to fulfill their assigned missions. Participating units were requested to take care of troops’ material and spiritual lives, promote tactical training, strictly exercise discipline, and conduct mass mobilization activities in localities where they are stationed.
General Lich affirmed that the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense believe that the teams will successfully fulfill all missions assigned by the Party, State, and army, contributing to honoring the virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and the gratitude paying tradition of the Vietnamese people.
In the evening of October 15, the mission attended the opening ceremony of a fair introducing products under the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) program in Ha Giang province.
