In January, under the direction of the Standing Board of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, the whole military has comprehensively carried out their military-defense duties. They have achieved outstanding results in observing combat readiness, performing advisory role, ensuring security at the first extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly, supporting localities to control COVID-19. They have held farewell ceremonies for discharged soldiers, continued to make preparation for training new recruits, presented Tet (lunar New Year) gifts to policy beneficiaries and strengthened international integration and defense diplomacy.

Highly praising the entire military’s task accomplishment in January, General Giang highlighted high sense of responsibility of chains-of-command at all levels, the military’s effective support to localities in COVID-19 fight and care for the needy ahead of Tet.

Regarding missions for February, the defense minister urged defense agencies and military units to strictly observe combat readiness duties, keep a close watch on situational developments, ensure a cozy Tet for troops.

He also requested forces to closely coordinate to manage borders, prevent illegal immigration, enhance patrols, guard duties, boost dissemination of major national festivals, fight against wrongful and inimical views of hostile forces, and protect the Party’s ideological foundation.

Together with ensuring security and safety during the upcoming Tet celebrations, the whole military was asked to implement COVID-19 prevention and control, fire-fighting measures, and organize tree-planting ceremonies as planned.

As Tet is drawing nearer, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, General Giang wished troops in the entire military health, happiness, solidarity, completion of all assignments and extended Tet greetings to their families.
