At the event, the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission focused on giving opinion about six important contents related to the assessment and review of the implementation of military and defense missions in 2022 and preparation for the whole military Politico-Military Conference in 2022.

Delegates evaluated that in 2022, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have led and directed the whole military to stay united and strive to comprehensively fulfill missions, achieving higher results than those of last year. Notably, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have given timely recommendations to the Party and State to deal with circumstances in an effective manner, contributing to firmly protecting independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity and maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for national building and development.

The whole military has well promoted the core role in responding to natural disasters and diseases and conducting search and rescue and adjusted the organization to meet the requirement of building elite, compact, and strong forces.

Delegates also said that the quality of training, exercises, training, comprehensively strong, exemplary and outstanding unit building has been enhanced, while international integration and external defense relations work has been actively, pro-actively, flexibly, and effectively conducted by the whole military. 

Along with that, agencies and units have well implemented the work of building the Party and military in terms of political affairs. In addition, there have been many changes recorded in terms of logistics, engineering, defense industry and scientific research.

Determining that 2023 is the pivotal year of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 11th Military Party Congress, the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission discussed and agreed on a number of key tasks and set out important goals for the whole military in the coming time.

The conference agreed that the whole military should focus on implementing the plan on adjusting the organization; improving the capacity for researching, forecasting and giving strategic advice to the Party and State to issue guidelines and policies to successfully handle military and national defense situations; making recommendations to raise the effectiveness of the 10-year summary of the implementation of the Resolution of the 8th Plenum of the 11th Party Central Committee on the Fatherland protection strategy in the new situation; continuing to build and consolidate a strong all-people national defense posture, firm defensive areas at all levels; improving the overall quality and combat power of the military.

Minister Phan Van Giang evaluated that the delegates promoted their sense of responsibility and contributed profound and enthusiastic opinions, comprehensively and substantively assessed the results of the performance of military and national tasks in 2022 and proposed key and breakthrough policies and solutions to effectively and successfully carry out tasks in 2023.

The defense minister requested the agencies to note and study delegates’ opinions and complete draft reports on summarizing military and defense tasks. He said that the draft documents should clarify the roles, responsibilities, efforts, and new outstanding results obtained by troops in the whole military.
