Reportedly, in 2022, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense directed the implementation of international integration and defense external affairs in line with the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies. The military units and defense agencies closely coordinated together in researching, evaluating, and promptly proposing recommendations to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to advise the Party and State to handle issues related to the work, while actively researching and participating responsibly in the building of contents, guidelines and orientations of diplomacy policies of the Party and State.

The defense cooperation was expanded with high frequency after nearly two years being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, the bilateral defense ties between Vietnam and other countries, especially neighboring countries and important partners, continued to be consolidated and strengthened. The defense diplomacy helped handle harmoniously and balance relations among countries, contributing to building trust and maintaining a peaceful environment for national development. The multilateral defense external affairs continued to be effectively implemented, making valuable contribution to promoting initiatives to maintain peace and stability in the region.

In addition, the coordination between agencies and units of the military in particular and with central and local agencies in general in the field was enhanced to propose timely advice to properly handle defense relations with other countries, especially neighboring and major ones.

On hearing the reports, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien praised efforts of the sector over the past year. He urged the relevant units and agencies to continue grasping all regional and global issues, providing timely advice for higher levels in the field, and effectively deploy the defense external affairs.

He noted that the units and agencies should continue to implement plans on delegation exchange at all level effectively, complete documents related to defense external affairs, and actively take part in regional and international forums, especially defense cooperation mechanisms within ASEAN, while improving their staff's capability.
