Accordingly, the sector has well performed its advisory role, given instructions on the combat readiness in the military medical work, disease prevention and control and health care for troops and people. Under its direction, military medical units at all levels have ensured good health of troops. The health examination for new cadets of military schools in 2023 and youths enlisted to units in 2024 has been conducted seriously with good quality.
Since early 2023, military hospitals have examined over 8 million people, received and given treatment to over 920,000 people. Military infirmaries have been provided with more personnel and medical equipment.

Notably, the whole military medical sector has effectively carried out training sessions, scientific research, and other activities related to international cooperation humanitarian assistance, U.N. peacekeeping, exercises, health check-ups and ensured military force and equipment for border exchanges.
Addressing the event, Minister Giang praised the military medical sector for its achievements gained over the past time. He pointed out some shortcomings that the sector should fix soon. He asked it to pro-actively make precise forecast of situations, give timely recommendations to ensure medical affairs for combat readiness, training, drill and other unexpected duties.
The sector was requested to improve quality of training, scientific research, consolidate medical-defense potential, and invest more in modern technical equipment to improve the quality of examination and treatment.
In addition, it should pay due attention to building a contingent of personnel good at professional expertise, enhance application of scientific and technological advance, promote defense diplomacy and international cooperation to improve medical staff’s expertise, and take advantage of technology transfer.
