Confrence held to review 15-year implementation of border patrol road project
PANO – The Ministry of National Defense (MND), on October 11, held a conference to review the implementation of border patrol road project in the 2007-2022 period, under the chair of Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong.

Delegates at the event affirmed that the project plays an important role in the implementation of national defense and security and socio-economic development strategy. For 15 years, relevant forces and the military have been constructing 2,142km of the border patrol road, of which nearly 2,000km was completed and handed over to localities. As evaluated, the project has been conducting with good quality, ensuring technical standards.

It is expected that by the end of 2025, the MND will complete the construction of the border patrol road project, with demarcation markers in the Central Highlands provinces.
Concluding the conference, General Cuong affirmed the importance of the project which contributes to firmly protecting the national sovereignty and security in border areas, helping border provinces promote socio-economic development, and paying tribute to local ethnic minorities. This is the road of peace and solidarity among neighboring countries, creating favorable conditions for border protection forces.

Meanwhile, the deputy defense minister requested functional units to ensure the construction process of the project, grasp situation to address any arising issues to accomplish the project as scheduled. He also called on the support of local authorities to take advantage of the road once it is fully operational.
