Coast Guard Region 1 presents gifts to island troops and people
PANO – A mission of Hai Phong’s leaders, troops of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command, and local businesses, led by Party Secretary and Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Command Major General Bui Quoc Oai, visited and presented gifts to troops and islanders in Bach Long Vy island district, Hai Phong city, on September 15 and 16.

During the visit, delegates and leadership, troops, and people of the island district offered incense and laid wreaths at a monument dedicated to fallen soldiers on Bach Long Vy Island and attended a flag-saluting ceremony at a defensive battalion on the island.
The mission also conducted activities as part of the “Coast guards stand by fishermen" program launched by the Coast Guard Region 1 Command. Particularly, members of the mission took the occasion to disseminate laws, especially laws related to the Coast Guard to the islanders. They also visited and presented gifts to the island district’s leadership, forces on the island, and needy islanders.
According to Senior Colonel Tran Van Rong, Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command, the “Coast guards stand by fishermen" program was launched in 2017 in various localities, including Bac Long Vy island district (Hai Phong city), Co To island district (Quang Ninh province), and Quang Dong island commune of Quang Trach district (Quang Binh province).
Over the past three years, coast guard units in the region have cooperated with localities to present thousands of gifts, including first aid kits, life jackets, and national flags to fishermen while conducting information dissemination and law education.

Tran Quang Tuong, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Bach Long Vy district, affirmed the significance of the program, saying that the model contributed significantly to encouraging fishermen to fish at sea.
On the occasion, the Nguoi lao dong (Laborers) Newspaper and Him Lam Joint-stock Company handed over national flags and gifts to troops and people on island.
