Major General Nguyen Hong Phong, Commander of the Artillery Corps, attended the event.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Colonel Pham Quang Huy, Commanding Officer of Brigade 96, underlined that meeting the task requirements of defending the Fatherland in the new situation and the development of the artillery force in the whole military, on August 20, 2008, the Ministry of National Defense decided to establish Brigade 96 under the Artillery Corps.

During the past 15 years, 20 companies and 8 battalions of Brigade 96 have been awarded the "Good Training Unit" title. Since 2017, the brigade has continuously been recognized as a good training unit.

In 2023, 100% of new recruits achieved the required training results, of whom over 80% obtained excellent and good results. Attentively, the three-explosion tests of the unit gained excellent results, ensuring absolute safety for both personnel and weapons. In addition, the unit has won remarkable achievements in competitions and sports festivals organized by the Artillery Corps, to name but a few.

Regarding the mass mobilization work, Brigade 96 has built and handed over 11 gratitude houses and taken care of a heroic Vietnamese mother. Since last year, the unit has sponsored two children orphaned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Addressing the ceremony, Major General Nguyen Hong Phong applauded the positive outcomes obtained by Brigade 96’s officers and soldiers over the past 15 years, emphasizing that generations of the unit have strictly observed resolutions and directives of higher levels and exerted utmost efforts to accomplish all assigned missions, contributing to upholding the unit’s glorious traditions.

Meanwhile, Gen. Phong required the brigade to further raise troops’ political stance, be consistent in securing national independence associated with socialism, and continue enhancing the quality of the building of a comprehensively-strong, exemplary and typical unit.

Also, the brigade should focus on improving the training quality to boost troops’ skills in using new weapons and technical equipment, promote the organization of refresher courses for troops, and strictly maintain military discipline and the unit’s regulations, contributing to building a strong and healthy Party organization and successfully fulfilling all assignments.

Moreover, the brigade should pay more attention to taking care of troops’ spiritual and material life, deepen military-civilian solidarity, and pro-actively engage in gratitude activities in the stationed area, among others.
