At the event, the organizing panel announced the Defense Minister’s decisions on the dissolution of Army Corps 3 and 4 and on the establishment of Army Corps 34, a merger of the dissolved army corps.

Both Army Corps 3 and 4 had glorious traditions, achieved a good number of feats-of-arms in the resistance war against the U.S. imperialists and attainments in the Fatherland building and defense cause as well as in implementing international duties.
In recent years, their troops always promoted the glorious traditions of the nation and the military, stayed united, showed creativeness, and victoriously carried out all assignments.
Addressing the ceremony, Major General Nguyen Ba Luc, Commanding General of Army Corps 34, confirmed that the Party Committee, Chain-of-Command, and all personnel of the corps are always absolutely loyal to the Party, Fatherland, and people, determined to fulfill the mission of protecting the Party, State, and people in any circumstances, and uphold and shine the glorious traditions of its predecessor to build an elite, compact, strong, modernized army corps, meeting the Fatherland defense mission in the new period.

After presenting the “Determined-to-Win” flag to Army Corps 34, the defense chief stressed that the dissolution of Army Corps 3 and 4 and the establishment of Army Corps 34 is a grand policy and an important event that marks the growth and development of the military, and a step to realize resolution of the 13th National Party Congress on building an elite, compact, strong military by 2025 and striving to build a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modernized military by 2030.
According to Gen. Giang, Army Corps 34, large in scale, will be equipped with more modern weapons and equipment and tasked with opening medium-scale operations, and standing ready to defeat any forms of warfare.
Gen. Giang asked the corps’ Party committees and chains-of-command at all levels to be fully aware of the position and significance of the corps’ foundation, functions and intermediate and long-term tasks. They should also pay attention to building a politically-, ideologically-, morally-, organizationally-strong party organization and a comprehensively-strong, exemplary and typical unit. In addition, they should promptly stabilize personnel organization, supplement and practice combat plans, create synergy, and complete all assigned tasks.
