Senior Colonel Nguyen Ba Luc, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Army Corps 3 attended and spoke at the event.

The event attracted the participation of three teams with 45 trainers and athletes from Division 10, Division 320, and Engineering Brigade 7. Each team competed in three stages, namely “Special obstacles,” “Relay,” and “Victory.”

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Senior Colonel Nguyen Ba Luc said that due to the impacts of climate change, the weather in the whole country and the Central-Central Highlands region is developing complicatedly, and accidents and disasters may occur anytime. He added that the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria have left severe consequences, drawing many lessons about incident response and search and rescue.

The chief of staff of Army Corps 3 affirmed that the prevention and response to natural disasters and search and rescue are the combat tasks in peacetime of the whole country in general and the military in particular. Therefore, troops must be well-trained to use all kinds of equipment and vehicles proficiently and well coordinate in search and rescue activities.

The contest aims to evaluate the quality of units’ search and rescue training and command and draw experience to improve the effectiveness of the mission in the coming time. The event is an opportunity for the corps to select the best athletes for a search and rescue team to participate in the whole military’s sports festival on search and rescue in 2023.

After the opening ceremony, participating teams competed in the “Special obstacle” event. The competition is scheduled to conclude on February 23.
