Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Huy Vinh made that request at a ceremony held in Hanoi on March 30 by the Air Defense - Air Force (ADAF) Service to celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of the anti-aircraft artillery force.
At the event, Lt. Gen. Tran Ngoc Quyen, Political Commissar of the ADAF Service, recalled the troops’ glorious traditions. In particular, on April 1, 1953, Defense Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) General Vo Nguyen Giap signed Decision No.06 on establishing Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment 367, the first regiment of the kind in the VPA.
Over the past seven decades of construction, combat, and development, with their strength, wisdom, blood and bone, the anti-aircraft artillery force has surmounted hardships, obtained numerous feats-of-arms, beautified the glorious traditions of the ADAF Service, brought into play its heroic traditions, and won many Party and State’s awards.
Addressing the event, Gen. Vinh congratulated the force on its great attainments and development over the past 70 years.
In order to fulfill all assigned duties, the deputy defense minister requested the force to focus on realizing the resolution on Fatherland protection strategy in the new situation which was adopted at the eighth meeting of the 11th Party Central Committee, resolution of the 11th Military Party Congress and other resolutions and conclusions of the Politburo on military and defense strategy.
He urged them to continue to well implement three breakthroughs, adjust forces in an elite, compact, and strong direction, step up administration reform, build comprehensive, exemplary, and typical agencies and units.
Other tasks that the force must pay due attention to are improving training quality, organizing exercises in line with reality, effectively employing assigned materiel, keeping a close watch on situational developments to deal with contingencies in a timely manner, promoting study and development of military art in modern air defense warfare, creating a strong and widespread people's air defense posture, and improving combat effectiveness using air attack weapons, especially unmanned aerial vehicles.
He also requested the building of strong, healthy Party cells with high combat strength, observance of the democratic centralism principle, internal political protection, and promotion of solidarity and unity as the key and most decisive factor to guarantee the successful completion of all assigned tasks.
