Visiting General Dung, Gen. Gau informed him about the situation in the world, and achievements gained by the Party, State, military, and GDP in 2023, as well as their major tasks in the time ahead. He also wished General Dung good health and happiness so as to make further recommendations to the Central Military Commission (CMC) and the Ministry of National Defense (MND).

Inspecting the military units, the GDP leader acknowledged and hailed their achievements in task implementation in 2023, while asking them to promote high determination and responsibility to fulfill assigned missions. They should also closely work with other units stationed in the area to boost dissemination and competence, enhance solidarity and take care of troops’ life, while ensuring combat readiness to ensure safety and traffic safety during the lunar New Year (Tet) holiday 2024.

* On the same day, GDP Deputy Chief Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh checked the combat readiness status of and sent new year’s greeting to some military units, consisting of the Department of Policies, the National Defense Journal, and the MND Social Insurance.

During the visit, Gen. Minh acknowledged and hailed the unit’s achievements over the past time. Accordingly, their leaders have directed the unit to strictly implement directives and resolutions of the higher levels on military and defense tasks, accomplished all missions with good results.

Gen. Minh requested the units to continue to carry out the defense minister’s directives, and the GDP’s instructions on combat readiness and the organization of Tet holiday 2024. Therefore, all troops must follow the State’s laws and observe military discipline, ensure traffic safety before, during and after Tet, to name but a few.

* Deputy Chief of the General Staff (GS) Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Binh, on the same day, led a delegation to visit and inspect the combat readiness work of the Naval Region 5 Command, as well as the implementation of illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing prevention work.

In 2023, the naval region’s chain-of-command has actively grasped situations and made recommendations to higher levels to address any arising issues. The unit also promptly ensured training and combat readiness work0, contributing to firmly protecting the national sovereignty over sea and islands. In addition, the naval troops also conducted patrols and fought IUU fishing, attended joint patrols with the Royal Cambodian Navy, and implemented search and rescue missions, among others.

This year, the unit was requested to strictly carry out all directives and orders of higher levels, ensure personnel and vehicles for combat readiness missions, especially at sea, while organizing meaningful activities for troops on the occasion of the 2024 lunar New Year with absolute safety.

On this occasion, the GS leader presented Tet gifts and Tet greetings to the naval troops ahead of the holiday.
