Young officers’ exchange promotes defense cooperation
PANO - Over the past years, the Army Youth in general, and young officers in particular have always promoted the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), and successfully completed all assigned tasks, especially conducting young officer exchanges to enhance the trust and mutual understanding between the VPA and other countries' armies.
Accordingly, the Army Youth Board under the VPA’s General Department of Politics is in charge of organizing young officer exchanges with other countries' armies.
Being aware of its role, the unit has strictly abided by the management regulations of the Party, the State, and the Ministry of National Defense (MND) on external defense affairs. Besides, the unit has regularly advised the MND and the GDP's leaders to direct agencies and units throughout the army to effectively implement the young officer exchange activities.

Last year, the Army Youth Board organized many exchange activities with young offices in India, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Russia. Especially, the Vietnam-Russia Young Officer Exchange Program was held for the first time within the framework of the Vietnam-Russia Cross-Year 2019-2020 and on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the treaty on basic principles for the bilateral relations (1994-2019), and 70th anniversary of the diplomatic ties (1950-2020) was a highlight of these activities.
The unit also welcomed young officer delegations from India, Singapore, the Philippines, and Laos to participate in exchange and training programs in Vietnam.
“Young officer exchange programs have contributed to promoting a good image of Vietnamese young officers in the eyes of international friends and the other countries' armies. Through these activities, the young officers have become a friendly bridge between the VPA and the other countries’ armies, thereby contributing to promoting peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world,” emphasized Colonel Tran Viet Nang, Head of the Army Youth Board under the VPA’s General Department of Politics.
