Vietnamese Meridian Team ranks third
PANO - The Vietnamese Meridian Team landed on the third place among six participating teams competing in the Meridian contest of the ongoing Army Games 2021, according to the final results announced by the referee board on August 27.
On August 27, Vietnamese topographers competed in the AK-74 assault rifle shooting exercise, the last one of the Meridian contest, at Patriot Park, in Moscow, Russia.
Three Vietnamese gunners, including First Lieutenants Nguyen Duc Huynh, Le Huu Khanh, and Senior Captain Le Van Duyen skillfully used AK-74 assault rifles to hit targets at the distances of 20m, 50m, and 100m. This shooting exercise requires gunners to fire accurately at the target in the fastest time.
Smiling after shooting, First Lieutenants Nguyen Duc Huynh and Le Huu Khanh said that their shooting performances were stable and the shooting results met the exercise’s requirements.

In the “Azimuth” exercise of the contest, the Vietnamese team ranked second out of six participating teams. In the “Topographic Quadrathlon,” the Vietnamese topographers met their set goals.
With good results after three exercises of the contest, the Vietnamese Meridian Team is deserved to be in the list of medal winners. It also manifests the members’ capabilities in the international arena.
According to Colonel Bui Yen Tinh, Chief of the Vietnamese Meridian Contingent, the members competed with their strong peers from Russia, China, Iran and Belarus.
Witnessing Vietnamese topographers in training and competition, Russian Captain Nokolai Victorovich Gromov spoke highly of their achievements and said that he was impressed by their spirit of competition.
