According to Gen. Sawyerr, apart from conducting tasks assigned by the mission, Vietnamese engineers have actively helped locals through simple deeds, including equipping them with farming techniques and repairing roads, houses, and classrooms.

In the golden book that briefs the engineering unit’s traditions, UNISFA’s Commander expressed his impression of the Vietnamese engineers’ quick adaptation to missions. He wrote that the Vietnamese peacekeepers have provided assistance for the mission in repairing roads, bridges, and drainage system; rescuing trucks bogged down on muddy road; building smart barracks.

He strongly believed that the Vietnamese engineers would continue to effectively perform their duties at the mission and hoped that they would maintain current working attitude.

During the visit, the UNISFA’s Commander had a working session with the Chain-of-Command of the Engineering Company Rotation 2 and toured the unit, during which he highly appreciated its building of smart barracks. The company’s production area impressed the commander.
