The medal “For U.N. peacekeeping cause” was to acknowledge the great efforts and contribution of the Vietnamese peacekeeping force implementing task in the area. Despite being deployed to the new mission, the Vietnamese "blue berets" soldiers always study and raise their competence while promoting solidarity with international forces and local authorities and people.
Addressing the event, General Chien underscored that the U.N. peacekeeping operations play an important role in preventing war and addressing conflicts in the world. Vietnam is proud to make contribution to the operations.

Vietnam joined U.N. peacekeeping operations since May, 2014. So far, the country has sent over 500 officers to take part in U.N. peacekeeping missions. Notably, last May, Vietnam successfully deployed the Engineering Company Rotation 1 to the UNISFA. Its efforts proved that Vietnam is a responsible member of the U.N., contributing to the common efforts for peace, stability and a prosperous and happy life for people all over the world, including in Abyei.
The Vietnamese deputy defense minister also noted that the medal is the U.N.’s acknowledgement of the Engineering Company Rotation 1 and Vietnam's working group at UNISFA. On behalf of the Vietnamese defense ministry, General Chien affirmed that the Vietnamese peacekeeping force is always determined to best fulfill all tasks assigned by the Party, the State, the U.N., and the UNISFA.
For his part, Brigade General Abu Syed Mohammod Bakir hailed the contribution of Vietnam to the U.N. in general and the U.N. peacekeeping operations in particular. He also highly appreciated the force’s competence and great efforts during task implementation.

After the ceremony, delegates planted trees in the barracks of the Engineering Company Rotation 1.
* In the framework of its trip to the UNISFA, the Vietnamese delegation visited and encouraged military women on the occasion of the 92nd founding anniversary of the Vietnam Women's Union (October 20, 1930). Despite facing difficulties, the female officers always accomplish their assigned missions. Notably, 12 of them voluntarily registered to continue their tasks in the Engineering Company Rotation 2.

Sharing difficulties with the female officers, General Chien applauded their remarkable achievements in the UNISFA. He also hoped that they would continue to better fulfill their tasks while strengthen solidarity so as to promote the images of Vietnamese women among international friends.
* On his way to the airport flying home, General Chien also visited and inquired after Non-commissioned Captain Dang Ngoc Ha from the Engineering Company Rotation 1 who had appendicectomy at Ghana's Level-2 Field Hospital in the UNISFA.
