Major General Tran Trung Hoa, the Engineering Corps' Commander, and members of the first engineering company

In 2022, Vietnam for the first time dispatched an engineering company with 184 members to join the U.N. peacekeeping force. This is the unit-level formation with the largest number of Vietnamese peacekeepers ever joining peacekeeping forces.

In the letter, the Engineering Corps’ leader extended best wishes to all officers and non-commissioned officers of the Engineering Company Rotation 1.

He recalled that on April 27, 2022, a see-off ceremony for the Engineering Company Rotation 1 and Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 4 was solemnly held in Hanoi. After the eight-year preparation, the first engineering company finally joined U.N. peacekeeping operations, contributing to realizing guidelines and missions outlined in the foreign policy of the Party, State, and military.

Right since the first days at the UNISFA Mission, the whole unit has shown unity and determination to overcome all difficulties and obstacles caused by weather conditions, facilities, and specific and complicated conditions in Abyei. They quickly settled down, built barracks, and successfully completed the first tasks required by the mission.

After eight months in Abyei, the Vietnamese engineers’ responsibility, friendliness, pro-activeness, creativeness, competence, and professional working style have left deep impression on the mission’s chain-of-command and local people.

Apart from fulfilling key political missions, the Vietnamese engineers have participated in voluntary activities and accelerated production to bring hope for peace. Their deeds have contributed to affirming the prestige and position of the Vietnamese Party, State, and military and demonstrating high political resolve of the Vietnamese Party, State, military, and people.

Major General Dinh Ngoc Tuong hoped that members of the first engineering company of Vietnam will bring into play revolutionary heroism and tradition of the heroic Vietnam People’s Army and engineering troops. He urged them to overcome difficulties to obtain more achievements, contributing to fulfilling the noble mandate of keeping peace, deserving the trust of the Party, State, and people.

At the end of the letter, he wishes the Engineering Company Rotation 1’s personnel good health, happiness, determination, and success in 2023.
