During the meeting with General Chansamone Chanyalath, the two defense ministers exchanged and reviewed the results of the Vietnam - Laos defense cooperation over the past time and mapped out orientations for bilateral cooperation in the coming time, including the increase of young officer exchange.

Both sides believed that the first Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia border defense friendship exchange, scheduled to take place in December 2023, will be carried out successfully. 

Meeting with General Tea Seiha, General Phan Van Giang extended congratulations to the Cambodian defense leader on being appointed to hold important positions in the Government, and sent his regards to former Defense Minister Tea Banh.

General Phan Van Giang meets with ASEAN Secretary General Kao Kim Hourn.

The two generals shared the view that the two militaries should continue their cooperation, solidarity and strong bond, as they are an important pillar of the good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive and sustainable cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting with ASEAN Secretary General Kao Kim Hourn, General Phan Van Giang sent his thanks to the ASEAN Secretariat for its coordination and support to help Vietnam complete its role as ASEAN Chairmanship in 2020, as well as joining United Nations Peacekeeping operations.

For his part, ASEAN Secretary General Kao Kim Hourn spoke highly of Vietnam’s contribution to regional peace, security and cooperation mechanisms, especially the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM+), hoping that Vietnam would continue making important contribution to ASEAN's cooperation mechanisms and the building of a united and prosperous regional community.
