During the patrol, both sides performed the salute called Hello ASEAN (a saluting procedure at sea among naval ships of ASEAN member states); exchanged information, practiced hand flag, lamp, and whistle signaling according to the International Code on Signals; carried out search and rescue drills and contents of the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES) among navies of Western Pacific countries.

According to Captain Nguyen Van Cuong, Commanding Officer of Brigade 175 and commander of the ship formation of Vietnam, in spite of conducting mission in unfavorable weather conditions, the ship formations of the two navies fully implemented the activities outlined in the Joint Patrol Regulation, establishing communication channels between the Vietnam People's Navy and the Royal Thai Navy, as signed by the Naval Commanders of both countries on June 14, 1999.

Thanks to the thorough preparations and close coordination, the 51st joint patrol was successfully completed. This has contributed to maintaining security and order in the maritime area adjacent to Vietnam and Thailand, facilitating economic activities for the people of both countries at sea, further promoting the cooperative relations, and enhancing mutual understanding and trust between the two navies.
