Vietnamese head delegate Senior Captain Bui Duy Thong, Deputy Political Commissar of the Vietnam Naval Academy, thanked Colonel Rinson Chua himself and the Singaporean Navy for their warm reception and hospitability.

Captain Thong stressed that Vietnam and Singapore are ASEAN members with many cultural similarities. Over the past 50 years of their diplomatic ties (1973-2023) and ten years of strategic partnership, the two countries have constantly consolidated and developed friendly and cooperative relations.

He underlined that the bilateral defense cooperation has developed strongly and practically with naval cooperation as a highlight. The two navies have regularly exchanged all-level delegations, sent ships, held exchanges, and supported each other in each side-hosted international events. Since 2010, the bilateral naval working group has organized nine meetings as foundation to promote cooperation contents in an intensive and substantive manner.

Also at the meeting, the Vietnamese head delegate briefed the host upon the Vietnam Naval Academy and its training programs. He affirmed the practical meaning of the Singapore visit this time, saying that it will contribute to enhancing connection and exchanges between the two navies.
