The Vietnamese servicewoman stood out thanks to her high sense of responsibility, professionalism and outstanding dedication. Having completed a compulsory training course in Juba and started her duty at the Military Observers’ Office, she volunteered to work at Yei area, a hotspot in terms of security, ethnic conflict, migration, and refugees.

In Yei area, Capt. Anh undertook many important missions related to protection of women and children. She proactively coordinated with functional agencies inside and outside UNMISS, such as Child Protection, Women Protection Advisor, and Civil Affairs to grasp real situations, get close to the local community, and deal with cases related to child abuse and gender-based violence. The information she provided was important to devise urgent and long-term support measures in order to improve the effectiveness of U.N. peacekeeping operations in the region.

Notably, after three months at work, she was the first Vietnamese officer to be selected for UNMISS’s Military Observer Training Team.

Capt. Anh not only excels in completing professional tasks, but also actively disseminates information to raise public awareness of children’s right, gender equality, and women’s role in peace building. She always shows the image of a dedicated and brave Vietnamese female officer, contributing to spreading the positive values of the Vietnamese peacekeeping force in the international arena.
