The talk was co-chaired by Commanding Officer of the Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command Senior Colonel Bui Hong Thanh and Commanding Officer of the Borikhamxay provincial Military Command Colonel Khamdeng Phengphongphanh.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged and highly appreciated the outcomes of their coordination in managing and protecting the shared borderline, maintaining security and order in border areas, and building a borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.
They evaluated that the people-to-people diplomacy work has been paid special attention to by the two units with a focus on promoting exchanges and trading and healthcare activities.
The Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command’s military-civilian medical station in Thong Pe village in Borikhamxay province’s Khamkeut district has provided health check-up and treatment for more than 710 people, emergency aid for 108 other patients and free medicines for 245 local people, worth VND 100 million.
Ha Tinh province’s border guard force have also presented medical supplies, worth VND 160 million in total, to assist the Borikhamxay provincial Military Command and border defense companies 252 and 253 in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
To raise the effectiveness of their coordination work in the coming time, the Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command and the Borikhamxay provincial Military Command discussed and agreed to sign a cooperation agreement. According to the inked document, the two sides will attach attention to raising local people’s awareness of and mobilizing them to strictly carry out the protocol on borderline and border markers, agreement on regulations on land border and border gates, and other related documents signed by the two governments.
They will regularly exchange information, conduct joint patrols, organize refresher courses on border defense work for troops of the Borikhamxay provincial Military Command, and work together to carry out search and rescue missions, respond to natural disasters and diseases, and deal with environmental pollution issues in border areas.
The two units will actively make recommendation to local authorities to have measures to effectively manage and protect the borderline and develop socio-economy and culture in border areas.

They will exchange visits on the occasion of important events of the two countries, organize exchange and twinning activities between units and localities in border areas, thus deepening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
