General Phan Van Giang highlighted the traditional and sound friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia. He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Cambodian People’s Party, headed by President Hun Sen, and the management of the Government, led by Prime Minister Hun Manet, Cambodia will achieve even greater accomplishments in the coming time.

He affirmed that the visit to Laos and Cambodia in early February by Party General Secretary To Lam carried profound political significance, demonstrating Vietnam’s consistency and top priority given to the Vietnam - Laos and Vietnam - Cambodia relations.
According to the Vietnamese Defense Minister, defense cooperation has been continuously consolidated, recognized by high-ranking leaders of both nations as an important pillar of the bilateral ties. He highly appreciated the outstanding cooperation results in various fields, including all-level delegation exchanges; effective maintenance of dialogue, consultation, and information-sharing mechanisms; training; border management and protection; twinning activities; dissemination of information about the bilateral relations; search and repatriation of martyrs’ remains; and mutual support at multilateral forums.
Regarding cooperation priorities for 2026, General Phan Van Giang proposed that the two sides continue maintaining delegation exchanges and cooperation mechanisms, training human resources, coordinating in border management, and combating transnational crime, especially eradicating online scam rings.

On this occasion, he respectfully invited high-ranking leaders of the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense, the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, and Cambodian defense enterprises to attend and display their products at the Vietnam Defense Expo 2026.
For his part, General Prum Din thanked the Vietnamese Party, State, military, and people for their immense assistance in overthrowing the Pol Pot genocidal regime and reviving Cambodia. He expressed his hope that the two sides would effectively implement the agreed defense cooperation contents, thereby contributing to further promoting the fine relationship between the two militaries and countries.
