Vietnamese and Lao Defense Ministers visit primary school in Bolykhamxay
PANO - As part of the 3rd Vietnam - Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense General Phan Van Giang and his Lao counterpart General Khamliang Outhakaysone visited Thongnammoun Primary School in Xaychamphone district, Bolykhamxay province, Laos, on July 9.

The two defense ministers and their entourages were warmly welcomed by students with drums, cheers, and red scarves, symbolizing the younger generation's respect for the military leaders and their confidence in the lasting friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
Thongnammoun Primary School is located along Truong Son road, built by Vietnam's Truong Son Wind Power Group, which connects to the center of Xaychamphone district. Despite limited facilities, the school continues to operate with eight semi-boarding teachers and 63 students.

During the visit, the two ministers presented equipment to support the school's teaching and learning activities and awarded 100 scholarships to disadvantaged students. The scholarships are intended to encourage the students to continue their education, become responsible citizens, and help strengthen the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
Local officials and school leaders said that the donations and scholarships were both practical and meaningful, reflecting the goodwill, shared responsibility, and close ties between the armed forces and people of the two countries.

Bounma Khaopaosong, principal of Thongnammoun Primary School, expressed his sincere gratitude for the support, saying that the donated equipment would expand learning opportunities, improve teaching quality, and help ease the challenges faced by local students. He pledged that the school would make effective use of the donated resources and continue educating students to become outstanding learners, responsible citizens, and contributors to the country's future development.
