Writing in the condolence book at the memorial ceremony, General Nguyen Trong Nghia shared that he was deeply saddened by the passing of President of the Lao National Assembly Xaysomphone Phomvihane, an outstanding leader, an exemplary son of the Lao multi-ethnic people, and a close friend of the Vietnamese people.

Throughout his revolutionary career and in his relations with Viet Nam, he was a great friend and a close comrade who made important contribution to consolidating and developing the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between the two Parties, States and people of Viet Nam and Laos.

His passing is a great loss not only to the Lao people, the Vietnamese people and the Viet Nam People’s Army, but also to the people of friendly nations around the world.
