In her speech, Ms. Hiroko Hirahara expressed deep gratitude to the fallen UN staffers, including her colleagues in Unity. She also expressed her deep grief over the decease of thousands of South Sudanese during the conflicts.
The Chief of the UNMISS Field Office in Bentiu stressed that on this special day, she appreciated all-out efforts and devotions of involved people. Though working in a challenging environment, UNMISS, other UN agencies, their partners, workers, volunteers, military and civilian forces, all have worked closely together to bring best things to local people. She thanked them for all they have done for the better of the local people.
The UN Day is annually organized on October 24 to celebrate the day when the UN Charter brought into effect in 1945.
