U.S. Navy’s carrier strike group visits Da Nang

This has marked the fourth visit by a U.S. aircraft carrier to Vietnam, following previous port calls in 2018, 2020 and 2023.

An overview of the welcome ceremony

The welcome ceremony at the port was hosted by the Naval Region 3 Command of the Vietnam People’s Navy. Attending the ceremony were representatives from Vietnam's Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Da Nang Municipal Department of Foreign Affairs, and other relevant agencies from Vietnam. On the U.S. side, the Chargé d'Affaires ad interim, the Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, the Defense Attaché, and officials from the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam participated in the event.

During their stay in Da Nang, the strike group's commanding officers are scheduled to pay courtesy calls on leaders of the Municipal People's Committee and the Naval Region 3 Command. U.S. officers and sailors will participate in a range of community engagement activities, including cultural and sports exchanges.

This port call contributes to maintaining and further strengthening Vietnam - U.S. relations, in line with the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development between the two countries.

The visit also underscores Vietnam's capability to provide logistics and technical support for foreign naval vessels on goodwill visits, thereby helping promote the country's image and its people to the international community.
