According to Senior Colonel Nguyen Duc Nam, Deputy-Director of the academy and head of the academy mission, the visit aimed to boost exchanges and further the mutual understanding and trust between the two militaries and navies. Through exchanges, young naval officers of the two countries hope to raise their awareness of the fruitful relationship between the two militaries and navies.
This is the fifth time Vietnam has sent a naval ship to Thailand for visit.
In recent years, the Royal Thai Navy has sent visiting ships to Vietnam 14 times.
During the visit to Thailand, the Vietnamese delegation paid a courtesy call to leadership of the Sattahip Naval Base Command.
On May 2, cadres, instructors and cadets of the Vietnam Naval Academy had a friendly football match with troops of the Sattahip Naval Base Command of the Royal Thai Navy.
The Vietnamese delegation visited the Royal Thai Navy’s guided-missile Frigate 456 at the Sattahip Naval Base, during which the guests were introduced to weapons and equipment on the frigate as well as the host’s training experience at sea.
Sailing Ship 286 - Le Quy Don will leave Chuk-Samet Port on May 4.
