At the event, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien thanked the Lao side for its warm welcome, sending the best wishes of Vietnam’s Minister of National Defense General Phan Van Giang to General Chansamone Chanyalath and the whole officers and troops of the Lao People’s Army on its 74th founding anniversary (January 20, 1949 - 2023).

Gen. Chien expressed his thanks to the Lao Defense Minister and the senior delegation of the Lao People’s Army for their official visit to Vietnam and their attendance at the first Vietnam International Defense Expo in December last year.

The Vietnamese official shared that in 2022, under the leadership and directions of the two defense ministers, the defense cooperation reaped fruitful outcomes. In the time to come, he hoped that the Lao defense minister would pay more attention to effectively implementing the cooperation plan for 2023 signed by the two defense ministers in December 2022 with a focus on delegation exchanges, human resource training and border defense exchange activities.

For the Lao part, General Chansamone Chanyalath expressed his delight at the guest's visit, underlining that it contributed to consolidating the special traditional friendship between the two countries and two militaries.

General Chansamine Chanyalth emphasized that amid the complicated developments in the region and the world, the two defense ministries should boost education and information dissemination among their troops about the unique and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos while effectively implementing contents of bilateral defense cooperation, deserving to be one of the significant pillars in Vietnam - Laos special friendship and comprehensive cooperation.
