At the meeting, Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet welcomed Major General Khamphay Saphangneua and the Lao delegation to Vietnam. He emphasized the significance of the visit which took place right after the successful trip of General Chansamone Chanyalath, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense of Laos, to Vietnam from December 7 to 8.

He said that this visit was a practical activity concretizing the common perception of the two ministers and contributing to deepening the "Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022."

Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet said that in 2022, the defense ministries of the two countries have successfully coordinated to organize nearly 30 activities, contributing to affirming that defense cooperation is one of the important pillars in the bilateral relationship. 

GDP’s Deputy Chief recalled that during the official visit of General Luong Cuong, Politburo member and GDP’s Chief, to Laos in November 2022, the leaders of the Vietnamese and Lao General Departments of Political Affairs highly appreciated the bilateral defense cooperation, especially in human resource training.

At the reception

Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet emphasized that over the past time, the Political Theory School of the Lao People's Army has proved its important position in training political officers for the Lao People's Army, becoming one of the symbols of the cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in general and the two General Departments of Political Affairs in particular.

The host affirmed that the leaders of the Vietnamese GDP always support and create all favorable conditions for the Political Theory School of the Lao People's Army and partners of the Vietnam People's Army to foster cooperation. Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet suggested that the two sides should enhance exchange and sharing of experience in theoretical research and focus on cooperation in personnel training. 

For his part, Major General Khamphay Saphangneua thanked the host for the reception. He said that the Lao delegation's visit to Vietnam took place in the context that the two defense ministries were coordinating to organize many practical activities within the framework of the "Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022."

Affirming the valuable assistance of the Vietnam People's Army to Laos’ training of political officers, Major General Khamphay Saphangneua hoped that leaders of the Vietnamese MND and GDP will continue to direct functional agencies, academies, and schools to train political officers of the Lao People's Army in the future.
