On behalf of the Vietnam Coast Guard, Major General Vu Trung Kien thanked Vice Admiral Tea Sokha for attending the program in Hanoi.

At the working session, leaders of the two sides informed each other about the outcomes of related activities of both sides over the past time.

Addressing the event, Major General Vu Trung Kien underscored that the Vietnam Coast Guard always considers the Cambodian National Committee of Maritime Security a particularly important partner in the region. He emphasized the commitment to fostering a close and effective cooperative relationship while continuing to strengthen cooperation with Cambodia’s functional forces to ensure maritime security, safety, and stability.

Vice Admiral Tea Sokha, on behalf of the Cambodian delegation, expressed gratitude for the warm reception by the Vietnam Coast Guard. He emphasized that the “Vietnam Coast Guard and Friends” exchange program holds practical significance, providing an opportunity for maritime law enforcement forces from different countries to meet and exchange, thereby fostering friendship and contributing to building a peaceful, stable, cooperative, and prosperous maritime region.

Regarding cooperation directions for 2025, both sides agreed to maintain and strengthen bilateral cooperation in many fields, such as sharing information, supporting each other in maritime law enforcement, and conducting mutual ship visits, to name but a few.

* On the same day, the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Philippine Coast Guard had a meeting at the headquarters of the Department of Foreign Relations under the Ministry of National Defense. Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao and Admiral Ronnie Gil L. Gavan, Commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard, co-chaired the working session.

Addressing the event, Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao expressed his delight at the reception for the Philippine delegation to attend the exchange program, demonstrating the sound relations between the two forces, contributing to the success of the event.

At the event, both sides exchanged and evaluated the cooperation outcomes over the past time.

For his part, Admiral Ronnie Gil L. Gavan thanked the Vietnamese side for its warm reception for the Philippine delegation and agreed with cooperation orientations in the time ahead, proposed by the Vietnam Coast Guard.

In the coming time, both sides will continue to maintain and enhance bilateral cooperation based on the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on maritime cooperation between the two countries’ coast guards so as to gain more practical results in law enforcement cooperation. Bilateral activities in 2025 will be discussed and agreed upon by both sides.

Concluding the meeting, both leaders posed for a joint photo and handed over gifts to each other.

* In the framework of the exchange program, on the same day, Major General Vu Trung Kien also met with Deputy Secretary General of the Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Center Vice Admiral Songrit Chatngern.

Addressing the event, Major General Vu Trung Kien affirmed that the Vietnam Coast Guard always treasures cooperation and support from the Thai side and hopes that the cooperation would make contribution to ensuring security, safety, peace, stability, cooperation and development at sea in the region.

Next year, the two sides will boost bilateral cooperation at sea on the basis of the MoU in order to gain more achievements in law enforcement cooperation, among others.

* During a working session with the Indonesian Coast Guard, co-chaired by Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao and Commander of the Indonesian Coast Guard Vice Admiral Irvansyah, both sides agreed to bolster bilateral cooperation in maritime law enforcement.

Concluding the meeting, Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao expressed his gratitude for the presence of Vice Admiral Irvansyah and the Indonesian delegation in Hanoi, showing evidence of the strong relationship between the two forces, contributing significantly to the success of the second “Vietnam Coast Guard and Friends” exchange program in 2024.
